Last year I was asked to work with @palliserwine on a simple restyle. We needed to refresh some of the spaces and add a touch a serenity overall. We focused on key elements such as seating as well as integrating some much need finishing touches to some of the areas including the tasting room. The result is a space that feels less cluttered and more welcoming. Somewhere you could easily relax and enjoy a wine or two with friends one beautiful afternoon. To those that know me it will come as no surprise that I love art. My home is smothered in it. Larger pieces collected along the way. Others purchased without the blink of an eye. Yet when I often enter homes it seems to me that people appear to be almost scared of art. They are unsure of what they like, they don’t know where to hang it, nor what will work in their home. My advice to all is buy what you love, buy a memory from a time gone by and use it to make small statements in your home about who you are. And if that sounds too daunting I can help you start on that journey. Linen blinds working their magic yet again in this calm space. The combination of the beautiful linen fabric from @unique_fabrics along with the purchase of some new art to add a little bit of magic to this room is all it really took. The end result is somewhere that feels restful and calm. The wistful style of the art, the soft neutral tone of the fabric and the richer colours injected through the accessories all work together to create a space that looks heavenly to me. This is what the gorgeous @_textilia_ fabric is to me. The playful pattern, the beautiful colour graduation and the inky blue. Devine. The perfect choice for an old Don sofa that was begging to be recovered along with a couple of chairs to boot. For the chairs we chose a @warwickfabricsnz blue that struck a chord with the sofa, something chunky and textural that complimented the style of the chairs perfectly. A teeny tiny ensuite that’s digging deep and delivering divineness in spades don’t you think? I love the simplicity of this bathroom renovation that I delivered for a gorgeous Martinbourough client recently. The beautifully vertically stacked white tiles compliment the vanity perfectly whilst the inky blue cabinetry is a heavenly treat against the organic brass tones. Bathrooms can be tricky wee spaces to work with. Often small with high demands. This one is no different. We wanted to create a space that delivered character and warmth to compliment the style of the home yet it needed to feel fresh and beautiful. The statement contemporary stone bath contrasts delightfully against the charming green tiles whilst the stacked white tiles add a contemporary touch. Add in a stunning @joskaandsons arch mirror, a warm timber vanity and aged brass tapware and we have a space that feels fresh and inviting. This small quaint bedroom sings pure happiness to me. It feels welcoming and restful yet it has charm on its side. With most bedroom projects it is critical to find a balance between all of these things. It is so important to create a haven for the guests as was the case here for this short term rental restyle project. Add into the mix some beautiful artwork, two gorgeous bedside lamps, pretty florals in the linen and layers of warmth through the bedspread and headboard and the end result is a space worth resting in. The brief was to create a haven. Somewhere to escape, away from the chaos of family life, even if it was only to be for a short while. Adding softness to this space was key. The addition of the stunning linen curtains, the gorgeous yet simple headboard and a cosy rug created a beautiful base whilst the muted tone of the bedsides added depth. We then added to the mix some cushions to complement and a stunning woollen throw. The final result is a space that oozes charm and a sense of serenity. A place worth retreating to. Working with the old and new is what I love to do. Looking at spaces with fresh eyes and finding places for treasures that had been long forgotten by their owners. In this case we thought about finding a new piece of furniture to fit in this space but instead we did a quick mix up, threw in a splash of greenery, a lovely new vase and hung a sweet freshly framed print. The end result is a characterful slice of happiness in this gorgeous home. It just sings warmth and love to me and that’s what makes me happy. And the client of course.
