We wanted to create a space that delivered character and warmth to compliment the style of the home yet it needed to feel fresh and beautiful. The statement contemporary stone bath contrasts delightfully against the charming green tiles whilst the stacked white tiles add a contemporary touch. Add in a stunning @joskaandsons arch mirror, a warm timber vanity and aged brass tapware and we have a space that feels fresh and inviting. This small quaint bedroom sings pure happiness to me. It feels welcoming and restful yet it has charm on its side. With most bedroom projects it is critical to find a balance between all of these things. It is so important to create a haven for the guests as was the case here for this short term rental restyle project. Add into the mix some beautiful artwork, two gorgeous bedside lamps, pretty florals in the linen and layers of warmth through the bedspread and headboard and the end result is a space worth resting in. The brief was to create a haven. Somewhere to escape, away from the chaos of family life, even if it was only to be for a short while. Adding softness to this space was key. The addition of the stunning linen curtains, the gorgeous yet simple headboard and a cosy rug created a beautiful base whilst the muted tone of the bedsides added depth. We then added to the mix some cushions to complement and a stunning woollen throw. The final result is a space that oozes charm and a sense of serenity. A place worth retreating to. Working with the old and new is what I love to do. Looking at spaces with fresh eyes and finding places for treasures that had been long forgotten by their owners. In this case we thought about finding a new piece of furniture to fit in this space but instead we did a quick mix up, threw in a splash of greenery, a lovely new vase and hung a sweet freshly framed print. The end result is a characterful slice of happiness in this gorgeous home. It just sings warmth and love to me and that’s what makes me happy. And the client of course. Simple yet striking in my eyes. These blinds give a nod to the charm in this room filled with love and personality. The simple grid pattern coupled with the contrasting neutral tones by @_textilia_ is another example of their beautiful yet classic designs. Furthermore the linen cotton mix gives it a good amount of structure when used as a Roman blind yet they still feel lovely and inviting in the space. Add to the mix some well loved books, music, art and character and you will find a living room that is hard to beat. Unless you are a minimalist, then this might not be your cup of tea. It’s the little things that count in a great kitchen design. Things that support the required functionality whilst adding a little personality to the space. Tiles to me add the magic, even when they are simple, plain and white. What makes them sing is the placement, grout colour and of course what’s placed next to them. In this home stacking tiles as opposed to a more traditional brick layout adds modernity to this design, as does the narrow tile format. A recent room refresh led to the need for new curtains in a young girl’s bedroom. The key here was to ensure that the overall style could grow with the child whilst still adding a playful touch to the space. @hemptechnz produce some wonderful textiles with often muted colour palettes and beautifully detailed patterns. They pride themselves on their sustainable approach to textile production and supply and their quality of product makes it an easy addition to any design. The linen fabric that we chose here adds a gorgeous softness whilst not being too “girly” in its overall style. At times we feel like we have to wait a long time for some things to come to fruition. This project was one of them.
