Working with the old and new is what I love to do. Looking at spaces with fresh eyes and finding places for treasures that had been long forgotten by their owners. In this case we thought about finding a new piece of furniture to fit in this space but instead we did a quick mix up, threw in a splash of greenery, a lovely new vase and hung a sweet freshly framed print. The end result is a characterful slice of happiness in this gorgeous home. It just sings warmth and love to me and that’s what makes me happy. And the client of course. I know the reality of most bedsides is not what is pictured, as they are often littered with practical items that don’t quite meet the calming desire that we so need in our lives. However a little rethink on your bedroom storage, a beautiful lamp, a few well loved books along with a little greenery will all work wonders to help support your escapism into your dreamworld. Simple yet striking in my eyes. These blinds give a nod to the charm in this room filled with love and personality. The simple grid pattern coupled with the contrasting neutral tones by @_textilia_ is another example of their beautiful yet classic designs. Furthermore the linen cotton mix gives it a good amount of structure when used as a Roman blind yet they still feel lovely and inviting in the space. Add to the mix some well loved books, music, art and character and you will find a living room that is hard to beat. Unless you are a minimalist, then this might not be your cup of tea. It’s the little things that count in a great kitchen design. Things that support the required functionality whilst adding a little personality to the space. Tiles to me add the magic, even when they are simple, plain and white. What makes them sing is the placement, grout colour and of course what’s placed next to them. In this home stacking tiles as opposed to a more traditional brick layout adds modernity to this design, as does the narrow tile format. A recent room refresh led to the need for new curtains in a young girl’s bedroom. The key here was to ensure that the overall style could grow with the child whilst still adding a playful touch to the space. @hemptechnz produce some wonderful textiles with often muted colour palettes and beautifully detailed patterns. They pride themselves on their sustainable approach to textile production and supply and their quality of product makes it an easy addition to any design. The linen fabric that we chose here adds a gorgeous softness whilst not being too “girly” in its overall style. At times we feel like we have to wait a long time for some things to come to fruition. This project was one of them. However I am so pleased that the client was happy to wait as this beautiful broad stripe with its lovely soft grey contrasting with the crisp white adds such a gorgeous statement to this bedroom. @unique_fabrics coming to the party again with such stunning fabrics. As many of you probably know good things take time. And it is worth remembering that the final outcome is most definitely worth the wait. Case in point is this little slice of heaven at a recent restyle. The gorgeous textural lamp and beautiful artwork by @selenakitchen create a little focal point in what was a rather under utilised area in the home. I just love how the dark sideboard adds depth whilst the playfulness of the colours and textures add warmth and personality to this lovely living space. Now here we have a little room that packs a punch. The tiles are in my mind to die for. Honestly, the whole combo has my heart singing. Beautifully stacked wall tiles, shades of delicious dusky tones and pops of mustard in the accessories. It’s a match made in heaven. Add in come clever storage solutions, a to die for vanity and you have a small bathroom that’s worth spending some time in. And as luck should have it we installed a super duper sink in bath to enable just that. One very happy client and of course a happy client is what this is all about. Who doesn’t love an inviting window seat that allows you to kick back and enjoy the surrounds from? This bedroom window seat needed to fulfil several roles. We needed it to be practical yet inviting. It needed to be comfortable enough to double up as a sleepover bed. The fabric needed to be hardwearing and it naturally had to compliment the overall scheme of the home. I do love the textural nature of the fabric and how it adds interest and contrast to the white back drop. And as always the cushions add just a little pop of colour in a relatively neutral scheme.
